A Public Display of Affection

Ethan Hawke, Andie MacDowell, Julianna Margulies, Steve Martin, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Raver, Diane Sawyer, Kathleen Turner and a galaxy of stars come out for the opening of the Public Theater's Hamlet.

On Tuesday night, the Public Theater celebrated the official opening of the Shakespeare in the Park production of Hamlet. Here's the Public's artistic director -- and the show's helmer -- Oskar Eustis with James Rado, the co-author of Hair, which will be the next offering in the Delacorte Theatre.

The evening also honored noted set designer and architect David Rockwell (center), who was joined by frequent collaborators Jack O'Brien and Jerry Mitchell.

The lovely Jennifer Ehle earned her second Tony Award last year for Jack O'Brien's production of The Coast of Utopia.

Ethan Hawke -- currently filming Brooklyn's Finest -- was another member of The Coast of Utopia's remarkable ensemble.

A slew of award-winning actors were on hand, including the hilarious Steve Martin, who will be seen on the big screen next year in Pink Panther 2.

Tony and Emmy Award winner Cynthia Nixon -- who will return to the stage this season in Distracted -- is currently burning up movie screens in Sex and the City.

Former Emmy winner (and new mom) Julianna Margulies came with her handsome husband, Keith Lieberhtal.

The gorgeous Andie MacDowell will co-star in the satirical film Inconceivable.

Julie White will re-create her Tony-winning role as Diane in The Little Dog Laughed this fall in Los Angeles.

The fabulous Kathleen Turner announced on WNYC today that she may be starring on Broadway in Edward Albee's Me, Myself, and I, sometime this fall.

Tony winner B.D. Wong will open the McCarter Theater's season in September with the one-man musical Herringbone.

Here's the beautiful Kim Raver, star of the NBC-TV hit drama Lipstick Jungle.

Among the twosomes on hand were newscaster Diane Sawyer and her husband, multi-award-winning director Mike Nichols.

Alessandro Nivola and Emily Mortimer are one of Hollywood's most beautiful couples.

Finally, here's the Public's former artistic director, George C. Wolfe, with award-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks.
